What surprises me most about Motherhood.

Today at Kelly's Korner she was doing a link up to discuss what surprises us most about Motherhood.

I have felt truly surprised by only a few things since I began my journey as a Mom.  Maybe it's because I am a new Mom, maybe it's because I waited so long to become a Mom and I was really ready to become a Mom, maybe it's because I am a planner and see three moves ahead (or try to), or maybe I am just naive.

I was surprised I had to have a Cesarean section.
I tried to have Elizabeth the traditional way, but she wouldn't come out
(she did weigh 9 pounds and 14 ounces, so that's probably why)

Surprisingly, parenthood has been "natural" to both of us.
I didn't know what to expect.  Neither did Ben.
But everything has come so naturally.
We have been relaxed about becoming parents and I think Elizabeth picks up on that.

I have been worried since the moment I found out I was pregnant.
I have been constantly surprised about how much I worry.
I worry her when she goes to sleep, I worry that she didn't get enough to eat,
I worry that I didn't get all the dirt between her fingers when she gets a bath,
I worry that she uses too much technology (or not enough technology).
I am surprised by the worrying.  And it will never stop. :)

However...
The one thing I have never, ever been surprised about.
The love I have for Elizabeth.  It grows more each day and is unending.
I love her more than I knew I could, but I have never been surprised by that love.

Jessica's Bachelorette Party!

Yesterday, I hosted a kayaking trip and luncheon for my cousin Jessica's Bachelorette party.

We had so much fun kayaking!  The weather was perfect, the water was fabulous, and it was so relaxing.  After kayaking we had lunch on the water at Nick's Riverside Grill.

I took a ton of pictures on my cell phone and I am impressed with how well they came out.  :)

Where did you go May?

May has flown by.  Or should I say, flew by.

We have been so busy over the last three weeks I haven't even had time to blog about our adventures.  So, I wanted to do a recap of the last three weeks so that we have a record of what we have been up to.

It started Friday, May 17th when Elizabeth and I flew to Texas to visit my Mom and Grandmother. Ben went on a guy's weekend camping trip in Pennsylvania.  We all came home on Sunday, May 19th.

We were home for four days and then left for Memorial Day Weekend in the Shenandoah Valley with Pari and Quin.  We rented a cabin for a long weekend and enjoyed some wineries, some hiking, some caverns, and lots of grilled meat.

This past weekend, Ben and Elizabeth went to Pennsylvania and I stayed in DC to host a bachelorette party for my cousin Jessica.

Below are some photos of our adventures.

The paintings are very cool.

Saturday, Ben and Elizabeth went to PA and I hosted a bachelorette party (separate blog coming).  Ben kept sending me pictures of Elizabeth so I knew what she was up to.  (I didn't like being separated from them).

And that covers our adventures for the last three weeks.  Thanks for stopping by.
