Sasha's birthday

My friend, Sasha, is having a milestone birthday next week.  We will be out-of-school before her birthday, so I wanted to do something special today.

There was a birthday surprise in her office and then a special lunch.

Happy Birthday Sasha!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

Weekend and Father's Day

We had a wonderful weekend around here!  We relaxed, played, and had a great Father's Day weekend.

We started our weekend Friday afternoon by coloring some pictures for Uncle Adam.

On Saturday, Elizabeth and I went to a playground and splash park.
Elizabeth had a great time playing with all the other kids.

Before dinner on Saturday, we played in the driveway with bubbles and chalk.
And the pink car.
Elizabeth loves her pink car!

Elizabeth also loves to grab the flag out of the flower pot.

On Sunday morning, Ben woke up to a Father's Day breakfast and a couple of special gifts.

Ben has said if he could have anything for breakfast it would be "pancakes, eggs,
bacon, and sausage." He got just that.

Yum!

When Ben got back from Church, he had another surprise waiting for him.

 Elizabeth loved the cake.

I had to get a couple of Daddy-Daughter photos.

 I love these two!

Ben and I enjoyed drinks on the deck after dinner.
Father's day beer for him, pineapple and cranberry for me.

We hope you had a great weekend too!

Strawberry Pickin'

I have been wanting to take Elizabeth to pick strawberries for awhile now.  However, here in Northern Virginia, the season didn't really hit until this week.  We went to our favorite farm, Butler's Orchard to pick strawberries with Elizabeth.  We go there every year for our pumpkins, but this is the first time we have been for strawberries.

Let me just say, we were totally unprepared for the large (large) number of people out at Butler's Orchard.  This was a highly organized operation that transported thousands of people (easily) through the rows and rows of strawberries.

When we arrived, we park and then followed the signs to purchase our crate.  You could pick from several different sizes.  The strawberries are $2.59/pound.  Then you got in line to ride the tractor pull out to to the strawberry fields.  You could pick strawberries as long (or short) as you wanted and then hop onto the tractor pull back to the parking fields to pay.

Even though we didn't try them out; we noticed huge slides for the kids (kind of like a long slip n slide), a food barn that sold hot dogs and drinks, a playground, and some other farm games for kids.

Here are some pictures from our adventure today:

 Strawberries are this way!

On the tractor pull (we got a hay ride!)

 Doesn't Elizabeth look thrilled?

All strawberries...

 So fresh and yummy!

I think Elizabeth had a good time

We had a great time!  I hope you can get some strawberries too.
