Life Lately

Our June is starting off busy and getting busier.  We are traveling this month, visiting a lot of family, and busy with lots of weekday activities.

We drove home early on Tuesday from our trip to Pennsylvania.  At lunch time, Alice and Evie came over to play so their parents could move without kids being everywhere. :)

Trying to get four kids in a picture to look at the camera...

Sword fights are awesome

Love this baby!

Tuesday night we grilled out for dinner.  Most of our meals this week have looked like this- on the deck! :)  I love these warm days on the deck, not having to worry about the kids being too messy. :)

Ben is the grill master

I had to take a picture of this!  Wednesday at lunch, Caroline drank her first juice box by herself!!  I'm never good at figuring out milestones, so I have no idea if she is doing this early/late/on time, but I am so proud of her drinking the juice box by herself and not spilling. :)

Big girl :)

Thursday morning we skipped the gym and went to a playground instead.  That's what summer is about, right?  The girls had a blast running around for an hour; with swinging, sliding, and a rock wall.

Loving every minute

I thought it was big enough for two :)

I love the look of pure happiness on Caroline's face

Sorry my finger is in these pictures below.  As we were leaving the playground, we came across this giant turtle in the road.  In the second picture, the man picked it up and then it tried to bite him, that is his second (and successful) attempt at moving the turtle off the road.

After the playground, we ran by Harris Teeter to get a couple of deals I had coupons for.
The popcorn was on sale buy 2, get 3 free (priced at $2.65/box).
The ice cream was on sale 2/$6 (normally $4.99/box)

I had (4) 50cents off coupons for the popcorn that doubled to $1.
I had (2) 41 coupons for the ice cream plus a rain check that made them buy one get one free.

So the two boxes of popcorn were $0.65 each and the other three were free.
The two boxes of ice cream were $2 each and the other two were free.

So... I paid $5.50 for everything above!!! :)

Last night we brought back Thirsty Thursday!

This morning we went to Krispy Kreme (after the gym, ha!) and each grabbed a free doughnut.

Caroline really enjoyed her doughnut :)

This afternoon I got my pedicure :)

And after nap time, we walked around the neighborhood and jumped in puddles.

I love watching them walk around together

Happy Friday y'all!

Thirsty Thursday!

We are starting up a new season of "Thirsty Thursday" over here in honor of summer finally arriving!

Our first cocktail is called The South Beach.

To make:

Mix over ice
2 ounces orange vodka
2 ounces lemon vodka
3/4 ounce orange liqueur
3/4 ounce lime juice
Shake

Serve over ice or in martini glass :)

Ben gave me copper mugs for our anniversary, so the drink picture isn't pretty but I wanted us to enjoy my new gift. :)

Cheers!

Happy Thursday y'all!

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

We headed to Pittsburgh on Friday morning for a fun weekend of meeting our new nephew, visiting family, and celebrating Memorial Day.  We had a great trip and got to see so many people, it was nice to have time to catch up with everyone.  :)

Friday morning, we stopped at the Hagerstown Outlets so I could shop the Memorial Day sales at the Loft outlet.  I ran around the store while Ben took the girls to the playground.  (I love that man!)

Elizabeth looks like a big kid...

And so does my sweet "baby"

Friday night, we treated Brigette to a taco dinner and loved on our new nephew. We let them get some rest after dinner and took the girls back to our hotel pool.  Elizabeth jumped in and loved every minute, Caroline clung to Ben for 20 minutes outside the pool before being handed to me in the pool (she only screamed for about 5 minutes in the water).

Saturday morning, we took the girls to Schenley Plaza where they ran around in front of the Cathedral of Learning and then we headed to the carousel

I think it is so great they can enjoy a place where their Dad went to college.
What great memories! :)

After Schenley Plaza, we headed over to Adam and Brigette's house and brought them lunch.  We enjoyed an indoor picnic because it was a tad hot outside.  :)  After lunch; Caroline napped, Elizabeth had quiet time and we were able to enjoy a nice adult conversation with Adam and Brigette. :)

After nap time, we walked to get ice cream and then headed to a splash park/ playground.

I love these pictures that Ben took of Elizabeth :)

I made creamy crock pot spaghetti for dinner and we all enjoyed that with some garlic bread and a cesar salad.  After dinner, we headed back to the hotel and enjoyed a quiet evening in (you must watch Ali Wong on Netflix) while the girls were sleeping.

Sunday morning, we headed to church and out to lunch with Adam and then went to Ben's parents house.  Elizabeth was so excited to get to use her car again!

On Monday, we headed to the Slickville Memorial Day parade.  We had such a great time visiting with family during the parade and again on Monday night.  After the parade, we grilled steaks and then a lot of family came over for dessert.  It was a wonderful day and I am so happy the girls got to experience a part of their family history in Slickville.

Getting ready to go to the parade

Time to be silly ;)

Love these two!

After the parade, Ben drove us by the house his dad grew up in.  It was amazing to see the house Ben's grandfather built.
*Fun fact- both our grandfather's built the homes their kids (our parents) grew up in.*
After that, we drove over to Aunt Barb's farm.  We got a tour of her house and then got to see chickens, goats, and roosters!
Thank you Aunt Barb for letting us crash your day! :)

Running because why not :)

Elizabeth: "It's a REAL tractor!!"

Going to see the goats and chickens

Baby love :)

Hello goats :)

Hello baby chickens
*Fun fact- This farm has free range chickens, so once the babies grow, they will just wonder around*

 Heading out

Thank you again Aunt Barb!

After the farm, we headed to Ben's parents house and relaxed before we grilled.  Elizabeth played in the kiddie pool while Caroline napped.  We had a ton of family over Monday night for a big dessert party and then we watched the Pens win Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day Weekend as well.

Happy Wednesday y'all!
