Family Book Club: Ice Cream Edition

Last summer we started a tradition of having a family book club day. A family book club day is where we read a book and have adventures/activities/foods all day based around that book.

Last year we did Pinkalicious and the girls had a lot of fun!

This year we chose an ice cream theme over a specific book about ice cream.

When the girls came downstairs in the morning, I had set-up a coloring station with ice cream cones that I found for free online somewhere (sorry I don't remember).

They colored and colored...

Elizabeth cut her ice cream cone out

Caroline colored everything :)

Later in the morning, the girls played this ice cream math game.
They had to count the number of sprinkles on the ice cream and
match it to the number printed on paper.

I don't have any photos or videos, but after lunch we made homemade lactose free chocolate ice cream in our ice cream maker.  It was soooo good!

Later in the afternoon, the girls painted ice cream cones with sponges and cotton balls.
I cut up sponges to make the cones and put cotton balls on the end of clothes pins for the girls to dip into paint to make the ice cream.

First, they dipped the sponge to make the cone.

They they would add the ice cream with the cotton balls

I think this was their favorite craft of the day :)

To end our day...

We had ice cream for dinner!

Another summer family tradition is ice cream for dinner once during the summer.
We combined national ice cream day with our family book club day and had a wonderful day!

Happy Sunday y'all!
