Chick-Fil-A Kids Club

At the beginning of March, we headed to Kids Club Night at Chick-Fil-A Seven Corners!  We love attending their monthly kids club events because the girls always learn something new, see friends, and enjoy a yummy dinner!

This month was learning about being a Chick-Fil-A employee and the girls learned how to make Chick-Fil-A lemonade!  It was a fun process and the girls sipped their lemonades all night. :)

The girls squeezed the lemon juice out of their lemons and this is them pouring it into their cups.

You add water...

And sugar!

Stir it all up and enjoy!

They also colored :)

Elizabeth LOVED her lemonade :)

After dinner, we exchanged one of the books for ice cream!

Two happy girls :)

Thank you Chick-Fil-A Seven Corners for another wonderful kids club!

Happy Friday y'all!

Jim Gaffigan and storm damage

My mom gave us tickets to see Jim Gaffigan as our Christmas present.  The show was Saturday, March 3rd and we have been looking forward to going since Christmas morning. :)

Well... Friday, March 2nd, we had a MAJOR wind storm come through and it ripped up our roof and part of our siding.  A lot of people had damage to their houses from the storm and in the middle of the afternoon, we lost power.

We weren't sure if we were going to still be able to go to the show, but Laura (who was babysitting) assured us the girls could come to their house if we didn't get power back.  Thankfully, by Saturday afternoon our power returned and Ben had contacted our insurance company and filed a claim about our damage.

So... Saturday, March 3rd, Ben and I were able to head over to the MGM at National Harbour for dinner, Jim Gaffigan, and a little bit of gambling and cocktails!  :)

We grabbed some tex-mex and this is us waiting for our food.
A pre-dinner selfie on a date night!

My mom got us AMAZING seats!
No photos were allowed during the show, so I quickly took this one when we sat down.

Jim was HILARIOUS and we enjoyed his entire set.
Ben and I were laughing so hard, my face hurt when the show was over.

Ben took my picture by his poster. :)
After the show, we headed over to the casino.
This was Ben's first time at the MGM and we walked all around,
grabbed a cocktail, and checked out a few slots.

It was a wonderful night and a big THANK YOU go out to my Mom for the tickets and to Laura for keeping our kids- Thank you ladies!!!

Now some pictures of the damage:

That is our siding that is coming off.
About two minutes after this picture was taken, all of that stuff blew away.

Some of it landed on our deck, that giant piece ripped up our umbrella. :(

That's what it looks like now.
The siding blew all over our street and we grabbed it out of many neighbors yards.

The good news, our insurance is covering all the damages, repairs, and replacements!!

Happy Tuesday y'all!

Review of Hello Fresh

Hey everyone!  We enjoyed our Hello Fresh dinners and I wanted to write a quick review of them.  I also want to clarify a few things before I start:

1. This is NOT a sponsored post
2. I bought a Groupon to try Hello Fresh, and I totally recommend doing that, I saved about 70%
3. We ordered the Family Plan for four people

Now to the fun stuff!

We tried Hello Fresh two weeks ago.  I purchased the Groupon and then logged onto the Hello Fresh website.  I pulled up the next week menu options and I let each girl pick one of our meals.  I wanted the girls to be involved in making the dinners (hoping they would be more willing to try them).  I picked out our third dinner and we placed our order.

Our delivery was set for the following Tuesday.
Caroline and I came home from the gym and it was waiting for us!

I carried the massive (very heavy) box inside and opened it up.

A little booklet about the service.

Some coupons.

Each dinner had it's own handout, plus a fourth handout with nutritional information.

The meals were inside this cooler bag.

Each bag contained all the ingredients for one meal, except the meat, that was underneath.

Our first night we made the pork chops

Underneath the brown bags... the meat!

The girls were excited to go through the bag and pull out the ingredients.

They were pulling out potatoes for me to make the mashed potatoes.

They helped me prepare the sides.

Love these girls!

The pork chops on the grill pan for a few minutes before going in the oven.

The pork chops and asparagus cooked together in the oven!

Ready for dinner (with some fruit added).

Pork chop, mashed potatoes, and asparagus for dinner #1!
It was really, really good.

Ben and I enjoyed the entire meal!
The girls ate most of their pork chop and asparagus.
Caroline LOVES mashed potatoes so she ate all of them, Elizabeth doesn't like them but ate her two bites required by her parents. :)

The next night, Ben made dinner with the girls.

He's showing them how to coat the chicken with the Parmesan and bread crumbs.

Fresh green beans and fingerling potatoes for the sides.

Parmesan and bread crumb covered chicken, roasted potatoes, and green beans.
The chicken was REALLY good.  I don't care for fresh green beans (I prefer canned, I know, I know) so I didn't eat many of them.  The potatoes were okay, they didn't get really crispy which is how I prefer them.
Ben really enjoyed this meal.

The girls would not eat the chicken when it was covered in the bread crumbs and cheese, they did eat it when we removed the toppings.  They both ate a few green beans and potatoes, but again, not their favorite.

Sorry, this picture is so terrible, but it comes with a story.
Our last meal was pork sloppy joes.  They are made in the crock-pot and cook for six hours.
The night this was cooking, Caroline fell down the stairs and we had to go to the Kaiser emergency after-hours clinic.  She is totally fine, but we did not eat our sloppy joes that night because we were at the doctor.  We also didn't eat them the next day (a Friday) because it's Lent and we don't eat meat on Fridays.  So, Ben and I had the sloppy joes on Saturday night.
I thought they were GREAT!
You can see I am eating them with left over mash potatoes from the pork chop night.  They are supposed to be served with a carrot and raisin salad but it didn't look good to any of us (and we never tried it, whoops).
The Sloppy Joes were great, but the side with it was a hard pass. :)

A few notes after trying the Family Plan for four people:

1. I would order from Hello Fresh again.  The food was FRESH.
I enjoyed the main entrees and most of the sides.

2. Next time I order, I would only order the plan for two people.  Our kids were just not into it enough and between the two of them, they only ate one portion (so we always had leftovers).
If your kids are older, I think the family plan would be great.

3. It helped me with my dinner rut.  I needed some new ideas for dinners and I will be making a few of these recipes again.

4. You can check out their menu online to see what is coming up for the next several weeks.  I saw several things that I could make myself or it gave me ideas for things to make.

5. You can cancel at any time.  I cancelled after our order arrived so I wasn't charge for another week.

6. There are ALWAYS online discount codes, don't ever pay full-price to try it.

Hope that helps!

Happy Monday y'all!
