Countdown to Halloween (A week of activities)

We are so pumped for Halloween in this house and I thought it would be extra fun to do some Halloween/Fall special activities this week to get ready for Saturday.  The girls and I have stayed extra busy by visiting going to a Halloween party, checking out a pumpkin patch, painting pumpkins, and doing Halloween arts and crafts.  Are you ready for Halloween?  We are!

Sunday afternoon we went to a Halloween party.
The kids decorated Halloween cookies, played Halloween Bingo, and Halloween bowling.
It was an awesome day and the kids had so much fun!

You know Elizabeth must have purple frosting

 And sprinkles...

Monday, we went to Nalls to check out their pumpkins, play in the maze, and we discovered a bunch of chickens and a pig named Penny.  :)

 She's a quick one

Trying to get Elizabeth to take a picture

 Penny the pig

 One of the many chickens

The girls were not thrilled with the "Nalls family photo corner"

Tuesday, Elizabeth and I made a Halloween cookie house that my mom sent her

 She loved it!

 She is very focused :)

And Caroline wore the Halloween outfit that my mom sent

 Ruffle butt!

Wednesday we went to library preschool in style...
Halloween style

My mom also sent these hairbows

Trying to smile for the camera...

On Thursday, we got these cute pictures of my niece and a sweet Halloween card.

This morning, Caroline put on another Halloween onsie and a hairbow from my mom

While Caroline napped, Elizabeth and I painted the pumpkins we picked up at Nalls

Elizabeth used 6 or 7 colors

And I painted mine teal for the Teal Pumpkin Project

I think she is having fun :)

I wanted to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project this year because I have several friends whose kids (Elizabeth's friends) have food allergies.  Having a food allergy is challenging and difficult every other day of the year, and Halloween should be a fun time.  We wanted to be inclusive of all kids in our neighborhood that will be trick-or-treating so Elizabeth and I went to the store to pick up some non-food goodies.  I hope that tomorrow (or next year) you feel compelled to pick up some non-candy options so that all kids may be included in trick-or-treating.

For lunch today, I took the girls to IHOP and they each got a Scary Face Pancake
Elizabeth had a blast eating the oreos with her pancakes.

Caroline wasn't sure what was going on, but she loved her pancake with whipcream.

Happy Friday y'all!

Life Lately

Life Lately has been one word... BUSY!  We have been running around having fun, hanging with friends, baking, and gearing up for Halloween!

Last week we hit up the zoo and this these had a blast!

Last Wednesday night, Ben and I enjoyed Back to the Future day with some cocktails and the movie

I took the girls to Chick-Fil-A on Thursday because we had to go to the doctor.
Caroline stuck her finger in the outlet and we had to get her checked out.
While we were there, I had Elizabeth get her flu shot (she was not happy with me).

Don't they both look happy now?

After CFA, we walked over to Edible Arrangements, and they gave us these chocolate covered strawberries for FREE.

Elizabeth and I were playing outside on Friday and I had to take a picture of this tree.
I LOVE the colors of all the leaves changing.

Saturday- Elizabeth and I made some more Halloween cookies

 Ben made some beer bread

And then I made some brownies.
Busy day in the kitchen!

These three refused to look at the camera at the same time.

Earlier this week, Elizabeth and her ninja buddies

They do love playing with swords, light sabers, and ninja masks (?)

Ga-Ga sent some cute bows for Halloween

Caroline enjoyed playing in the library playroom while Elizabeth went to preschool yesterday

This girl.  I love!
This morning during Elizabeth's gymnastics...

Happy Thursday y'all!

Disney on Ice!

Last week I took Elizabeth to see Disney on Ice and it was amazing!  Elizabeth has been obsessed with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse since she was old enough to be obsessed with something and so when these tickets popped up on Groupon I said "We are going!".

I have been wanting to take her for awhile, but I didn't think she was old enough last year when they were here and I am so glad I waited until she was older.  She hasn't seen a lot of Disney movies, but she loves Mickey and Minnie and that got her through the show.  She stood most of the show and danced along with the music (and mostly tried to copy the ice dancers).

We had such a great time and I highly recommend taking your kids to Disney on Ice if they love Disney.  They had scenes from several Disney movies and had six or seven scenes from Frozen.  My neighbor, Kyla, suggested I bring a princess dress with me because lots of kids dress up- I am so glad she said something because EVERYONE was dressed up (and I had no idea that was a thing).

Trying to get her to smile AT the camera :)

 She was so excited!

 Selfie before the show starts

 IT'S MICKEY AND MINNIE!!!

We were high, but we could see EVERYTHING

If she wasn't dancing, she was sitting in my lap

 Dancing

She got to pick one special treat- she choose cotton candy with an Olaf hat

We had a blast and I highly recommend the show!

Happy Wednesday y'all!
