Meatloaf

I am determined to go through all of the food in our freezer and pantry before buying more food.  I am always using my coupons and combining them with store deals and we are just out of room.  So no more groceries until we have space.

Tuesday night I made meatloaf, steamed broccoli for me and green beans for Ben and biscuits. Yummy!

The biscuits were free, the two pound bag of frozen broccoli was $1, and the meatloaf was $2.

Week in review

So last week seemed like it was the longest week ever even though I only had 3 days of work.  Monday was MLK holiday and Tuesday was a snow day.  Wednesday I finished my volleyball unit and Thursday I started teaching family life.

After work on Friday I went to the gym and it was so nice because I had not gone all week.  Ben called me before the gym and asked me out on a date so after the gym I had to hurry home and shower and get dressed.

Friday night we went to Old Towne and tried this really cool place called Red Rocks.

On Saturday, we attended the memorial for Dr. Vitez at my school.  It was a really nice service with several people speaking about Dr. Vitez and a very beautiful video slide show.

On Sunday, Ben had to work so I went to the gym and then hung out around the house.  Sunday night we went to Alan and Laura's house to watch the Steelers play the Jets.  Laura made the most delicious home made perogies and then we enjoyed brownies while watching some great football!

Tonight we hung out at home and made tacos and taco salad then played my new Carolinaopoly game.

My taco salad.

Ben's tacos.

Carolinaopoly.

Have a great week!

Pillows and Books

So Sunday and Monday Ben has been in bed sick with a fever and a cold.  I confined him to our bedroom because I did not want to get sick.  I brought him juice, water, Dayquil, NyQuil, eggs, toast, pasta, whatever he wanted.

Today is the first time in 48 hours that he has gotten out of bed.  After he left this morning to go to work (on his 2-hour-delay because of the ice) I immediately went into our room and pulled everything off of the bed and put it all into the washing machine (I've done 5 loads of bedroom laundry).  Why so many loads of laundry???? Because I washed all of the pillows...

Four of the five pillows drying on our drying rack.  Ha!
(I have 2 fans blowing on them)

Anywho, so while Ben has been sick I have been watching a lot of Netflix.  I have been watching all of the romantic comedies that I know Ben would not want to watch with me.  After watching the romantic comedies I began thinking about my book.  Sara told me during New Years I need to begin writing again, and every time I watch a romantic comedy I think the same thing.  Why?  Because my book is about dating, just like 99.9% of the romantic comedies out there.  I had lunch with my friend Ann yesterday and I was listening to her stories about dating and it reminded me of my book.  So, why am I procrastinating?  Why don't I just put fingers to keyboard and type?  I don't know.  This blog is helping getting my creative, writing juices flowing, but I am still not there.  Will keep you updated on the book.

Steelers vs. Ravens

On Saturday, Ben had to work and then serve Mass so he had to DVR the game.  When he got home I had a surprise waiting for him.  Our very own Steelers Party!

I had a spread of all of Ben's favorite snacks and his own personal bucket of beer.  We had a great time, plus the STEELERS WON!!!!!!!!!

Do you like the Steelers plates and napkins?

Ben enjoying his Steelers party.

Me in all of my Steelers gear.

We won!  We won!  We are number 1!!!

The Steelers play The Jets this coming Saturday.

Pitt vs. Georgetown

For Christmas I gave Ben tickets to see Pitt play Georgetown.  We went to the game this past Wednesday and had a BLAST!  Not only did Pitt beat Georgetown, but it was a nice date evening for the two of us.  Thanks to Al for getting us the tickets!

When we first got to the game, I will still freezing and refused to take off my coat.

Pitt is in blue.

Go PITT!

Final: Pitt 72, Georgetown 57

*I said at the beginning of the game that I bet Pitt won by 20 and Ben said they would win by 15, look who knows their team well.

361 and counting.

361.

I am so tired tonight and totally ready for bed.  Ben got up super early this morning for an early morning meeting and I ended my day with a technology class from 4-6pm.  So... we are both full of meetings today, haha.

We went out to dinner tonight which was a nice change from eating at home.  We usually don't go out to eat and especially not during the week.  I guess because we both had such long days we just needed a nice relaxing evening.

Anyway, time to watch some Netflix then off to bed!  Good night.

The week in review

I am freaking out a little bit right now because I have just noticed that there is moisture behind the screen in my camera and I am really hoping my camera does not break.  I shall keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer.

This week has been pretty crazy even though I was on vacation.  Sunday we drove to Deep Creek, Maryland for a relaxing ski weekend.  When we arrived on Sunday the snow was coming down in blizzard form with crazy winds so we hunkered down inside and swam in the pool.  Monday was similar to Sunday but I did venture outside for some sledding.  Over the long weekend I read 11 magazines and have started a new book.  Tuesday, Ben and I went out in the snow for awhile and then we headed back to DC because Ben had to work Wednesday and Thursday.

Warm and cozy.

Friday morning we drove back to Greensburg so we could celebrate New Year's with our friends.  Jared and Kelly host a party every year.  About 2 months ago, they discovered that they have a serious moisture problem in their basement so their friends Jay and Amy agreed to host the New Years Bash!  We met up with them and Justin and Sara (and the boys) and Scot.  We had such a good time hanging out with everyone, eating a ton of food, and I learned how to play poker.  We did watch the Gamecocks play and sadly lose.

Ready to celebrate.

The boys: Ben, Justin, Scot, and Jared

The ladies: Sara, Kelly, and me

Saturday afternoon we headed back to DC to get ready for our busy week coming up.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my 11 days of vacation and I am sad to see it come to an end.  I enjoyed the snow but I am now ready for warmer days to be here again.

365 challenge

Lots to catch you up on but I will update tomorrow.

Last night (yes, New Years Eve) my friend, Sara, challenged me to a 365-day challenge.  I can do anything I want, but it has to be something I can do everyday.  So... I have decided to take her up on the 365 challenge.  I am going to take a picture of myself everyday and post it on my blog.  I am hoping to see how I change over the course of the year and if I can really take a picture of myself and post it online everyday (seems simple enough).

So...

364 to go.

I want to challenge each of you to try and do something for 365 days.  What are you going to do?
